SEASON 0 explores the boundary between assistance and autonomy, between aesthetics and necessity, shaping a new language of dressing: accessible, dynamic, essential.

Two trajectories intersect: HARMONIQUE, designed to support assisted gestures, and AUTARKEIA, dedicated to independence and self-dressing.
Each piece is a code, each detail a statement.
Magnets, flexibility, intelligent closures: technology becomes functional poetry.

CIRCULARITY

Circularity for MATERIA is not theory, but practice.
Garments from Season 0 are made using selected and researched materials, including regenerated Manteco wool, sourced from traceable and certified supply chains.

Each piece is designed to be 100% recyclable at the end of its life cycle.
Fabric returns to fiber, fiber returns to yarn, yarn returns to garment: a continuous system of regeneration.
A concrete circular economy, where waste becomes possibility.

KNIT

Knitwear as textile engineering.
Garments are developed using engineered knit in merino wool and blends, produced with latest-generation seamless circular machines.
Zero waste, zero seams, maximum control over volume.

Each piece is completed directly from the loom, ready to wear.
Every area responds to a body need: elasticity, support, breathability.
A second skin where innovation meets sustainability.

WOOLMARK

From concept to recognition, from idea to future.
In 2021, Francesco Saverio Matera initiated a research path on the potential of merino wool, leading to first prize and innovation award at the Woolmark Performance Challenge.

This project generated functional, sustainable, and recyclable garments, developed with seamless zero-waste technologies.
The elimination of synthetic fibers in favor of natural materials defines a clear direction: high performance, respect for the body, respect for the planet.

MAJOTECH

Durability as sustainability. Through collaboration with Majotech, integrated in Season 0, MATERIA explores technical materials derived from military research:treated, waterproof, wind-resistant, and abrasion-resistant fabrics.

Garments designed to last over time, becoming reliable everyday tools.
For us, durability is an ethical choice: less consumption, more permanence.

HANDS-FREE FUNCTIONAL BAG

An accessory that becomes freedom.
The hands-free functional bag originates from real-life observation: an object that wraps around the body and adapts to the wearer.
It can be worn crossbody or fixed to the thigh, becoming a tool for autonomy, also for wheelchair users.

Magnetic closures, fast zips, intuitive buttons ensure immediate usability.
A tactile, accessible, intelligent design: always within reach, without hands.

3D PRINT

Innovation without waste.

3D printing becomes a tool to eliminate waste and explore new forms.

Ergonomic and functional accessories are generated directly from the production process, reducing consumption and improving usability. A new way of thinking design: modular, responsible, adaptive.

HP

Experimenting with pioneers means pushing beyond limits.
Within Season 0, MATERIA collaborates with HP to test advanced powder-based 3D printing systems, leading to two key prototypes:

a wraparound eyewear adapting to the head as a natural extension, and an easy-wear shoe designed for quick access through dual YKK openings, ensuring full accessibility.
Technology becomes inclusion, experimentation becomes everyday use.

VOLTA FOOTWEAR

Volta Footwear x MATERIA: The Harmony of Autarkeia is a collaboration merging tradition and innovation.
A shoe that combines classic design with contemporary functionality.
Velcro closure ensures immediate accessibility, while the laser-cut leather upper with micro-perforations provides targeted breathability and material contrasts inspired by Matera’s rock surfaces.

The Vibram Rustic sole with Traction Lug technology increases grip by up to 25%.
Every step becomes stability, every terrain a possibility.
An inclusive shoe rooted in territory and identity.

GEPPETTO

Among the iconic objects of Matera is the Cucù, a ceramic whistle carrying memory and symbolic meaning.
For Season 0, this object is reinterpreted with Geppetto, a historic artisan.

The result is a piece that merges aesthetics, irony, and recognizability, creating a bridge between tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and vision.
